Quinn Renames The South Suburban Airport to Bult Field

 

In an event that seemed more campaign rally than serious announcement, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn on August 7 unveiled a small sign proclaiming Bult Field the “Future Site of the South Suburban Airport.”

With local lawmakers crowding around him at the podium, the Governor also announced that he will host an industry forum next month “with private developers, air carriers and potential airport tenants to create a business plan and strategy to complete the project as quickly and efficiently as possible.”

And in between self-congratulatory rhetoric and back-patting, Quinn defended the State’s spending of millions of dollars on land acquisition for the airport–while schools and pension funds go hurting–and insisted that the SSA will “revitalize the South Suburban Region and create thousands of jobs.”
